KIGALI:- Rwanda's Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry generated $84.8 million in revenue in 2024, according to the Rwanda Development Board (RDB)’s recently released Annual Report.
The milestone reflects the country's sustained commitment to positioning itself as one of Africa’s premier destinations for business tourism. Throughout 2024, Rwanda hosted 115 MICE events, drawing over 52,000 delegates from across the globe.
The sector’s performance was a major contributor to the overall tourism industry, which recorded $647 million in revenue from 1.36 million international visitors during the year. Rwanda’s MICE sector's success is largely attributed to deliberate and ongoing investments in infrastructure, notably the Kigali Convention Centre, and the country’s emphasis on security, hospitality, and seamless service delivery.
These elements continue to attract international conferences and high-profile gatherings, bolstering Rwanda’s appeal as a reliable and attractive host nation.
The RDB report also outlines Rwanda's wider economic achievements in 2024, including $3.2 billion in secured investment commitments, representing a 32.4% increase from the previous year.
Meanwhile, national exports grew by 22%, reaching a value of $4.2 billion. Rwanda’s strategic focus on the MICE sector not only boosts tourism revenues but also amplifies the country’s global brand visibility and supports long-term economic development. With continued investment, Rwanda is well on course to becoming Africa’s top destination for high-level business events and international gatherings.
